Sophie Wang

Hi! I am Sophie Wang, from Shanghai, China, and I am currently studying at UWCSEA East Campus, Class of 2026. As an ISTJ, I’m organized, reliable, and detail-oriented, these traits guide me in everything I do. My ability to communicate fluently in both Mandarin and English helps me connect with people from different backgrounds, and I’m excited to use my practical approach to make a meaningful contribution. I love working with people and interested in music, art, social enterprise and trying new things. It’s great to share my love for the community and interact with people who are passionate about making a positive difference.

Yu Junxiang

Hi everyone! This is Gabriel, Yu Junxiang. I’m a Year 9 student studying at Hwa Chong International School. It’s tough to sum myself up in a few words, but I’m an extrovert, tech-loving and “quirky” guy. I always have great fun hanging out in a random cafe and reading some pages of a mysterious book. There isn’t a specific passion or purpose in my life so far, but I’m fascinated by the world of referencing and how it works, from blockchain to semiconductor, from terrains to a constructor.(Yep,it’s a rhyme) The NextGen Philanthropy Program really sparked my interest in what philanthropy means from a typical STEM student’s perspective. Visiting the Enabling Village was quite an eye-opener. Seeing how innovative technology can actually make a difference, rather than just being shown in a few minutes’ demo, was incredibly inspiring. I’ve also met a lot of like-minded peers, and it’s amazing to connect with others who share my passion for creativity and making a positive impact. After the program, I kept working with some other participants and started NourishMind, a food therapy organisation, ensuring that our initiatives can continue to benefit more people. This sense of fulfilment is unlike anything I’ve experienced before. It’s the feeling of knowing that I’m making a real difference in the world, and that’s something I’ll cherish for long. Hope more passionate students can join us and join the family!

Jiaqi Li

My philanthropy journey began two years ago with my direct experience as a volunteer teacher in an underprivileged area and conducting sandplay therapy for children with autism. Witnessing the challenges these individuals face—living in difficult conditions and feeling helpless—deepened my passion for making a meaningful impact. Through these experiences, I began to understand that philanthropy is more than just providing material help, but about sharing kindness and love to make a lasting difference in the lives of those in need. It became clear to me that philanthropy is a lifelong commitment to serving others.

While I used to believe that organising charitable events required extensive expertise and resources, my understanding changed after completing the course. Insights from experts across different fields have shown me that the courage to take action and a strong, beneficial intention are far more crucial than waiting for the “perfect” moment. Positive change begins when we dare to act, and sustained effort combined with unwavering commitment ensures that charitable activities truly make a difference.

I am passionate about philanthropy and committed to uniting others through strong leadership. My perseverance empowers me to overcome challenges and consistently strive for meaningful, lasting change.

NourishMind’s First Offline Art Therapy Workshop Creates Beautiful Memories

With support from the Singapore Good Soil Foundation Incubation Program, NourishMind launched its inaugural offline Art Therapy Workshop in collaboration with experienced mentors. The event featured Dr. Jade Kua, founder of Jade Life & Wellness Coaching Academy, who provided invaluable professional guidance to the participants.

During the workshop, the team led a calming meditation session that helped everyone relax and connect with their inner selves. The creative spirit continued with a hands-on wind chime-making activity, allowing participants to express their thoughts through art.

This inspiring event not only fostered creative expression but also brought people together to share meaningful moments.
